About the session
This event will take place immediately after the United Nations High-Level Meeting (HLM) on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). It will reflect on the outcomes of the HLM, assess the commitments made, and examine key debates on NCD prevention and control. The panel will focus on the next steps, highlighting the concrete actions, integrated strategies, and partnerships needed to drive progress on NCDs.
Discussions will explore how integrated responses can be effectively implemented in diverse health systems. This includes consideration of shifting donor priorities and the impact on global health funding and support for integrated service delivery. The panel will examine how HLM commitments can be translated into national and regional action, highlight innovative approaches that strengthen health systems and promote people-centered care, and assess what the evolving global health and development agenda means for the future of NCDs.
Looking beyond 2030, the conversation will also reflect on the role of NCDs in shaping the global health architecture beyond the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs), identifying opportunities to elevate NCDs within future global priorities and ensure long-term accountability.
