About Edson Rwagasore
Dr Edson Rwagasore is the Head of Public Health Surveillance and Emergency Preparedness and Response at the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC), the implementing arm of the Ministry of Health.
Since 2012, Dr Rwagasore has been instrumental in designing and implementing interventions aimed at improving access to quality, affordable, and sustainable services for the preparedness and response of health emergencies in Rwanda.
He played a key role in Rwanda's first Marburg virus outbreak in 2024, guiding the response with a One Health approach and international collaboration. His leadership contributed to a low case fatality rate and demonstrated Rwanda’s capacity to manage emerging infectious diseases.
