About Anamaria Bejar
Anamaria is currently the Director of Public Policy Engagement at Gavi the Vaccine Alliance based in Geneva. She leads Gavi’s advocacy to increase political will and influence public policies to advance vaccine equity and the sustainability of immunisation.
The focus of her career has been to improve access to health and human rights of populations left behind. She has conducted research, managed large programmes and international teams and led partnerships across sectors and cultures, devising strategies and leading their implementation.
Prior to join Gavi, she has been the Global Director of Advocacy at the International Planned Parenthood Federation IPPF, where she led the design and implementation of the first IPPF advocacy strategy. Previously, she was Associate Director for Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean at the International HIV AIDS Alliance Secretariat -now Frontline AIDS- and Save the Children UK Country Director in Cuba. Anamaria started her career in the highlands of Cusco Peru, where she worked with indigenous women and children at the Peruvian Ministry of Health and with local NGOs.
Anamaria is a social anthropologist with an MSc in Health Policy Planning and Financing obtained at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She also has professional certificates on leadership and related areas from Harvard Business School, LSE and LSHTM.
Anamaria served at the Technical Review Panel of the Global Fund against AIDS, TB, and malaria as human rights and gender expert and is currently a of the Steering Committee of the Universal Health Coverage UHC 2030 partnership.
