About Belinda Afriyie Nimako
Dr. Belinda Afriyie Nimako is an experienced Public Health Physician with over 19 years of expertise in service delivery, programme management, leadership, and health systems strengthening at local, national, and international levels. She has held key roles within Ghana’s health sector, including Acting Deputy Director for Information, Monitoring, and Evaluation at the Ghana Health Service and District Director of Health Services in a rural district, gaining a unique blend of frontline experience and strategic policy insight.
Belinda brings a rich global portfolio supporting governments and international partners in strengthening primary health care (PHC). As Senior Country Engagement and Technical Officer with the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI), she coordinated partner efforts to assess and improve PHC performance. She led cross-country learning with health leaders on data utilisation and system transformation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led USAID’s support to Ghana’s response as COVID-19 Response Manager/Coordinator. She later served as Country Representative Project HOPE and Chief of Party for an Integrated Health Partnership Project.
She currently serves as Director for Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at Ghana’s Ministry of Health, a member of the Governing Council of Ghana Health Service and the Board Chair of Ghana’s Health Facilities Regulatory Agency.
Dr. Belinda Nimako combines practical experience with policy vision. She provides an authentic, grounded voice in discussions on how countries can develop resilient, accountable health systems that effectively serve populations.
