About Muthoni Gichu

Dr. Muthoni Gichu is a medical gerontologist and a distinguished public health leader with over a decade of experience in health systems strengthening, policy development, and a leading voice on healthy ageing in Africa. She spearheaded Kenya’s first-ever Healthy Ageing and Older Persons’ Health Strategy. She currently serves at the Division of Healthy Ageing, Palliative Care and Older Persons, Ministry of Health in Kenya, where she is at the forefront of advancing national strategies for healthy ageing, dementia prevention, and integrated models of care. Internationally, she serves as Co-Chair of the WHO Technical Advisory Group for Measurement, Monitoring and Evaluation (TAG4MHA) and has contributed to global guidelines on physical activity and ageing. Dr. Gichu is committed to advancing dementia prevention, palliative care, and inclusive health systems that empower older persons and strengthen societies in Africa and globally.
