About Oscar Kambona Ayoma

Mr. Oscar Kambona Ayoma is the coordinator for nutrition and dietetics and health-related policies in Siaya County, Kenya. He completed his undergraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics from Maseno University (Kenya) and is pursuing a master’s degree in human nutrition and dietetics at Kabarak University (Kenya). Mr. Kambona has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to improving community health outcomes. His responsibilities have included designing, monitoring, and evaluating nutrition interventions; developing and implementing nutrition strategies; collaborating with various stakeholders; and promoting healthy eating habits. He has been a leader in developing comprehensive health- and nutrition-related policies tailored to national and county needs, as well as initiatives to increase awareness about dietary diversity. Mr. Kambona has been an advocate for integrating nutrition services into broader health strategies, such as those addressing maternal and child health (resulting in reduced malnutrition cases), noncommunicable diseases, and food security. In addition, he has been involved in training healthcare workers and community health promoters on best practices in nutrition, and he has been a key promoter of evidence-based interventions, monitoring, and community engagement. Mr. Kambona remains dedicated to improving community health outcomes and well-being through effective nutrition and health policies, with a vision for a healthier future with equitable access to nutritious food and strong health systems.
